What do you like most?

The most important thing for us is that the till system, card payments and administration are all combined in a single solution from a single supplier. This has eliminated the need for a separate terminal agreement and, consequently, the interfaces where errors typically occur. The implementation went according to plan, the training required was minimal, and the pricing structure is transparent with no unforeseen costs.

What do you like least?

We have not identified any significant drawbacks during the period in which we have been using the system. The only reservation I would highlight is that the solution is based on a fixed system logic, which means that existing workflows must, to a certain extent, be adapted to the system rather than the other way round. In our case, this has not had any practical implications.

What business-critical problems do you feel Tebi solves?

Our previous setup consisted of a till system and a payment solution from two separate suppliers. This resulted in daily manual reconciliation and an unclear division of responsibility in the event of operational disruptions. Both issues have been resolved with Tebi, as reconciliation takes place automatically and we have a single point of contact for support. Furthermore, the system’s reporting provides ongoing and reliable insight into turnover broken down by product group, which forms part of our decision-making process regarding product range and staffing.

What do you like most?

Point of sale and payment in the same system. No separate terminal agreement, no manual reconciliation, just one supplier to deal with. Easy to learn.

What do you like least?

Nothing of note so far. You have to get used to Tebis’s own logic rather than recreating your old setup.

What business-critical problems do you feel Tebi solves?

It eliminated the need for daily reconciliation between the till system and the terminal, and gave us a single point of contact for operational issues. The reporting provides an ongoing overview of sales and product categories.

What do you like most?

The till system and payment processing are part of the same solution. We no longer have a separate terminal contract, and we’ve noticed the difference both in our paperwork and in our day-to-day operations on the shop floor. The user interface is simple enough that training new staff is over in no time, and we know exactly what the solution costs us.

What do you like least?

We haven’t come across anything worth mentioning. If I had to be critical, I’d say the system is built on a specific logic that you have to get to grips with — you can’t just copy over your previous setup. For us, the transition took just a few days.

What business-critical problems do you feel Tebi solves?

Our previous set-up required daily manual reconciliation between the till system and the terminal, and when operational problems arose, it was unclear who was responsible. That’s no longer the case. Furthermore, the reporting gives us an up-to-date picture of sales, so decisions on the menu and staff rota are based on figures rather than gut feelings.

Frequently asked questions about Tebi

Overview

Tebi is a restaurant POS and hospitality management platform, built for full-service restaurants, bars and cafĆ©s. It sits in the same category as Toast and Lightspeed — not standalone payment tools like SumUp or Zettle. The core is a connected system that ties POS, kitchen display, reservations and payments to real-time reporting, so operators run service and see performance from one place.

Tebi is used to run full restaurant service and see how the business is performing in real time. A typical workflow: a guest books a table or orders via QR code, the order goes straight to the kitchen display, payment is taken at the table or till, and the sale automatically updates inventory and the owner's daily sales report. Owners use it to spot slow-moving items and staffing gaps.

Function & Usage

Tebi runs as an app on iPad, phone or terminal for taking orders and payments during service, plus a web-based Back Office for setup and reporting. Staff sign in via QR code or email and password. Orders and payments are entered directly through the POS app; menus, staff and settings are configured in Back Office. Reservation and QR-ordering data flows in automatically from guest-facing links, syncing to Back Office in real time.

With Tebi you can generate digital receipts and invoices for guests, export daily sales and VAT reports to accounting tools like e-conomic or Visma, send orders straight to kitchen display tickets, produce stock and inventory reports, and issue digital gift cards. Integrations also sync bookkeeping data automatically and send booking confirmations to guests by email.

Tebi is typically used by owner-operators and floor managers at full-service restaurants, bars, and cafĆ©s with one to two locations and roughly €50,000–150,000 in monthly revenue. Front-of-house staff take orders and payments on the POS, kitchen staff work from the kitchen display, and owners check sales and inventory reports daily. Common settings are fine dining, casual dining restaurants, and neighborhood bars.

Pricing

Tebi's subscription scales with your revenue, so there's no flat monthly fee. The first €10,000 in monthly revenue costs €0/month; each additional €10,000 adds €20/month, with no cap as revenue grows. Card payments are billed per transaction at competitive rates. There are no contracts, setup fees, or per-seat licensing costs.

No fixed free trial. Tebi's subscription scales with revenue — merchants earning under €10,000/month pay €0, with no time limit. Above that, a small fee applies per revenue tier, with every module included from day one.

Evaluation

Tebi is a strong choice for owner-operated full-service restaurants, bars, and cafĆ©s with one to two locations doing roughly €50,000–150,000 in monthly revenue. Its biggest strength is replacing a stack of separate POS, reservation, and payment tools with one connected system that gives real-time visibility into sales and operations. It's a weaker fit for large multi-location chains needing deep ERP integration or highly customized enterprise workflows.

New staff can take orders and process payments on Tebi's POS within their first shift — the interface needs little training. Full setup, including menu, floor plan, staff accounts, and integrations, typically takes about a week with onboarding support. The steepest learning curve is usually inventory and recipe management, which benefits from a dedicated staff member managing stock and costs.

Tebi hosts merchant, staff and guest data on EU-based cloud infrastructure, keeping data within the EU/GDPR area. Production access is limited to identified engineering accounts through single sign-on, with role-based permissions and scoped views restricting who can see sensitive fields such as bank details. Sensitive data is isolated from general analytics access, and system activity is logged for accountability.

Company & Trust

Tebi is owned by Tebi B.V., a privately held, venture-backed company headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It has raised €50 million from Index Ventures and CapitalG, and is not publicly listed.

Tebi's CEO is Arnout Schuijff, who founded the company in 2020. He previously co-founded Adyen, the global payments company, before starting Tebi to build a connected operating system for independent hospitality businesses.

Tebi was founded in 2020 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, by Arnout Schuijff, co-founder of payments company Adyen. The idea started at CafƩ de Spuyt in Amsterdam, aimed at building one connected platform for hospitality operators.
